Quickstart

This is a quick tutorial for a typical setup involving two Workers (file processing), two Hubs (redundant load balancing) and an external file storage like like S3. The prerequisite is to already have two Workers and two Hubs running and online. Make sure that the Manager and the connected appliances are licensed: Licensing

Setting up

  1. Click Add new appliance.

  2. Select Spectra Detect Worker or Spectra Detect Hub. Enter a name, e.g. “Worker 1”.

  3. Enter the URL or IP address of the Worker/Hub (configured when importing the virtual image into a hypervisor).

  4. (Optional) Enter the SNMP community string. This allows monitoring of memory, CPU and disk usage on the Workers.

Repeat the steps above for all Workers and Hubs.

Ensuring redundancy and connecting to external services

  1. In Central Configuration, click Add new group.

  2. Name and create a Hub group.

  3. Appoint the primary and secondary (redundant) Hub.

  4. Set up a shared (virtual) IP address.

  5. Complete the setup and Save.

  6. On the home page, click on the primary Hub, then click Connectors.

  7. Select S3 or another service that has previously been set up.

  8. Click Enable and then Add item.

  9. Configure the required fields and Start connector.

In the setup described above, the primary Hub will automatically pull files from external storage and pass them to Workers, which will then analyze the files. In case the primary Hub goes down, the other Hub will take over and continue passing files to Workers. All configuration options will propagate to all Workers belonging to the group. If the SNMP string has been set up, users will see the performance statistics for all connected appliances.
